About Our Full Stack Development Program

Qwasar’s Full Stack Development program focuses on front-end and back-end development, as well as strong fundamentals in data structures and algorithms. Our comprehensive, elite program is entirely project-based, meaning learners develop a strong technical portfolio as well as desired hard and soft skills required for full stack developer jobs in industry.

Our focus is training learners to Silicon Valley standards, and in developing a breadth and depth of technical skills that other programs don’t. No other program offers strong Computer Science fundamentals in C, which are vital for succeeding in technical interviews.

Pricing/Program Costs

Qwasar programs are $2,400 in total and can be paid upfront or in monthly payments. The first two months are due after enrolling and before your start date. This is non-refundable.

Once enrolled in Qwasar programs, you will be sent an enrollment contract.

If you enroll on a part-time basis, you pay $100 per month until you gain an internship, apprenticeship, or employment, at which point you pay the final remaining sum up to a total of $2,400 which can be paid one-off or monthly at $200/mo.

If you’re full-time, you pay $200 per month until you gain an internship, apprenticeship, or employment, at which point you pay the final remaining sum up to a total of $2,400 which can be paid one-off or monthly at $200/mo.

What you’ll cover throughout your learning journey.

Introduction to Web Programming

Begin to use and become familiar with everyday programming tools and terms – the terminal, the command line, Git, folders, filers and repositories

Cover the fundamentals of web programming and programming as a concept, including functions, variables, different types of variables, multiple variables, etc.

Start styling and understanding responsive programming that adjusts layout to different screen sizes, including flexbox

Build your first small project in Javascript and begin fundamentals of debugging and problem solving

Introduction to Problem Solving

Discover what constitutes a backend, how they work, and how they’re configured

Build your first backend, where all programming and architecture decisions are yours to make!

Data Structures and Types

Understand the fundamental different kinds of data structures in programming and why they are important.

Understand and work with different data types in C to understand how a computer treats different types of data, how that affects memory.

Work with pointers to control computer memory allocation when using different data structures and types, making your programming more efficient.

Discover and work with arrays, a fundamental concept in programming that makes your code more efficient by streamlining data organization and use of variables.

Introduction to Backend Computer Programming

Take arrays and data structures to another level and begin using them to implement algorithms. Cover basic search algorithms vital for backend programming

Add greater complexity to data structures, types, arrays and pointers by combining them into one project where learners are responsible for logic design and the architecture of their functions, files, and folders

Uncover the importance of libraries in programming languages by building one of the most used libraries in coding. Students cover parsing, memory management, variable arguments, and error handling.

Intermediate Data Structures

Cover the basics of programming in Ruby to gain familiarity with the language and its syntax

Program in Ruby and begin working with data in CSV format while discovering classes in Ruby and their uses

Database Design

Dive into databases, querying databases, and specifically, using SQL

Students build a database from scratch using all of their previous knowledge and programming experience

Game Programming

Students dive into gaming logic as they apply programming logic to creating a complex game

Covering both front-end visuals and backend databases, students uncover game design and make choices about their game’s look and feel as well as their backend database

Games must be deployed online so that anyone can play them, with most games being deployed using Heroku

Intermediate Full Stack Development

Cover oAuth while creating a full stack application from scratch, giving learners significant power and decision-making abilities in security, backend design, and front-end development

Complexity, constraints, and lots of choices present themselves as learners build their first major and significant full stack application and portfolio project

OPTION 1 Front-end development (React)

Cover the basics of programming in React.JS to gain familiarity with the language, its syntax, and what sets it apart from other front-end frameworks

Build a multi-page card sorting application in React that adjusts to users interactions in real-time

Learners begin building and deploying professional React applications commonly used in industry to showcase their front-end programming skills. Multiple portfolio projects produced.

OPTION 2 Advanced Backend Development in Ruby

Dive into relational databases and implementing them using Ruby on a complex project that includes security, authentication, architecture, database design, and relational databases

Learners begin building and deploying professional Ruby applications commonly used in industry to showcase their back-end programming skills. Multiple portfolio projects produced.

OPTION 3 Backend development in Java

Cover the basics of programming in Java to gain familiarity with the language, its syntax, and what sets it apart from other languages

Understand what UML is, how its used for software architecture and design, and implement it for a nature-focused project to help protect wildlife and ecosystems

Implement multiple algorithms in complex projects in Java to exploit the language for its main features and strengths

Build a professional Java application using Spring for the front-end to showcase full-stack programming abilities.

Cover the basics of programming in Python to gain familiarity with the language, its syntax, and what sets it apart from other languages

Work with and build an API using Python

Build multiple professional Python applications using Django for the front-end to showcase full-stack programming abilities.

Behavioral Interview Preparation

With an extensive list of resources, students create their technical CV then undergo multiple reviews for improvement

Completion of extensive behavioral interview worksheet that prepares candidates to succeed in interviews

Learners complete interviews in role play situations to practice their responses

Technical Interview Preparation

Learners complete 20-40 technical interviews in role play situations of increasing technical difficulty to practice for real interviews

PROJECTS

Each season has a series of projects to complete that last 1 day to up to 3 months. These are problems and challenges to build software based on certain requirements and restrictions.

One example of a project would be to build a task-management software with tags, permissions, and a basic user interface.

EXERCISES

Each week, participants will have 1-5 coding exercises to complete. These are accessed through our software and your code is auto-graded to ensure it is up to speed and functioning. This is part of the learning process. We have over 800 exercises in our library with thousands of test cases!

ROLE PLAY

We use role play to develop soft skills such as job negotiations or conflict resolution. We also use role play in technical interview practice where participants will both be the interviewee and the interviewer. This dual-sided perspective is unique to our program & helps build better interviewees.

GAMIFICATION

Our system is gamified, meaning that you will earn and spend “Qpoints.” As you complete peer code reviews, you earn points and as you submit your projects for review, you will spend Qpoints.

We train to standards set by Silicon Valley for full stack developers. This means the level is much higher than that of bootcamps, and higher than that of CS degrees. Your specialty is being an elite developer at a world-renown level.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

Strong Back-end Skills

The vast majority of bootcamps don’t cover data structures or algorithms. CS degrees don’t cover hands-on application of theory or actually developing software architecture. With no single source of truth and no answers provided, it’s up to you to figure out how to make your code work, when and how to ask for help, and how to successfully build software in a team.

Step 4: Following the interview, if accepted, you will be invited to enroll.
